Gorilla permits cost $1500 per person. There are special offers to Rwandans East African and African residents. Recently the government of Rwanda revised the rates for Gorilla trekking to Volcanoes National Park and there was a great change to attract more people from Africa to take on this lifetime adventure tour. African residents now pay $500 per person and East Africans pay $250.
The Virunga Massif hosts close to 600 Mountain Gorillas, and many of these are found in the Volcanoes National Park of Rwanda. Efforts for conservation regarding the Mountain Gorillas are underway to increase their population for future generations, that’s why the cost. The government of Rwanda has played an important role in the conservation process. Many of the participants in the conservation are the local people from communities around the park, and they have benefited from this process. They look at Mountain Gorillas as something important to the communities.
